FAQ
-
What is an operational bottleneck in a business?
An operational bottleneck is anything that slows your business down or creates unnecessary pressure. In service-based businesses, this often looks like everything relying on the owner, unclear processes, or inefficient workflows.
Over time, bottlenecks lead to overwhelm, inconsistent delivery, and limited growth. Identifying and fixing them allows your business to run more smoothly, freeing up your time and improving profitability.
-
Why does my business feel chaotic even when I have clients?
This typically happens when there are no clear systems or processes in place. As more clients come in, the workload increases, but without structure, everything becomes reactive.
Instead of growth feeling exciting, it feels overwhelming. Fixing your operations creates consistency, making your business feel more controlled and sustainable.
-
What’s the difference between a business consultant and a virtual assistant?
A virtual assistant typically focuses on completing tasks, while a business consultant focuses on identifying problems and improving how the business operates.
The key difference is that consulting/advisory is strategic. Instead of just helping you keep up, it helps you build a business that runs more efficiently and requires less day-to-day input from you.
-
Can I hire you for just one project or do you only work long-term?
Absolutely! I offer both one-off project support (like CRM setup, system audits, or launch planning). The real power comes from ongoing support for business owners who want consistent help keeping things on track.
-
What kind of businesses do you usually work with?
Mostly small business owners, consultants, creative service providers, coaches, and growing teams who need strategic support but aren’t ready (or don’t want) to hire in-house.
-
How do you communicate and collaborate with clients?
We have an agreed Weekly standup call via Zoom, Teams, Google Meets etc. We then discuss your immediate requirements and then use a Project Management tool such as Trello, Notion etc to keep everyone accountable.
-
How do we know what has been completed in the week and what points are outstanding?
The project management tool is crucial. I’ll keep you informed throughout the week on my progress and I’ll always shutdown the week with a summary email confirming what I have achieved.
-
How can I improve my small business's sales processes without hiring full-time staff?
You don’t need more people, you need a clearer, slicker process.
Most small businesses lose sales because their approach is inconsistent. Leads come in, but there’s no structured journey, follow-ups are missed, and responses vary.
-
How do you handle sensitive information like passwords or financial data?
I only access financial platforms, CRMs, or tools like NordPass with your explicit permission and through secure, encrypted channels. We’ll use trusted tools for password sharing and access control.
Before any work begins, we’ll sign a clear, binding agreement that outlines confidentiality, scope of access, and data protection measures, so you can feel completely secure.
-
How is this different from business coaching?
Business coaching often focuses on guidance, mindset, and accountability. Operational consulting is more hands-on and practical.
Instead of just advising, the focus is on identifying specific issues within your business and working with you to fix them, implement systems, and improve how everything runs. We roll up our sleeves and muck in ourselves
-
Do you replace a sales team or work alongside one?
I can do both. I often support solopreneurs who are the sales team, but I’ve also worked alongside SDRs, sales leaders, and marketers to improve handovers, follow-ups, and conversion processes.
-
What is a business audit and how does it work?
A business audit is a deep dive into how your business is currently operating. It looks at your workflows, systems, time management, and revenue drivers to identify what’s working and what isn’t.
The goal is to give you a clear, prioritised plan to fix the key issues holding your business back, so you can move forward with confidence and direction.
-
How do I know if I’m ready to work with you?
If you're feeling stretched, spending more time in the business than on it, or you know things could run better but aren’t sure where to start, that’s usually a good sign it’s time to bring someone in.
-
Why isn’t my business growing even though I have clients?
If you have clients but aren’t seeing consistent growth, the issue is often operational rather than marketing. Inefficiencies, lack of structure, and poor systems can limit your capacity and reduce profitability.
Growth isn’t just about getting more clients, it’s about having a business that can handle and benefit from that growth.
-
Do I need this if my business is already making money?
Yes, because revenue doesn’t always mean efficiency or sustainability. Many businesses make money while still being disorganised, overly dependent on the owner, or difficult to manage.
Improving operations helps you keep more profit, reduce stress, and create a business that can grow without everything relying on you.
-
Do you offer any in-person services?
Yes, subject to travel and expenses
